Uh, what?

Just as I was about forget about Project AWOL’s seeming interest in me, I suddenly get two more AWOL followers. God. Will you guys ever stop bothering me? I’ve made myself a promise. If I see anything on anyone’s blog that has to do with make money blogging, I will cyber slap them and then never come back again.

But now, for some reason, I’m also attracting the love of “I Love Latinas”? Ok, thank you for your interest as well in my day to day ramblings, but if you were to actually spend a little time looking at the header of my blog, you’d realize that I am in fact not Latina. I am no where near Latina. Other than the fact that I have dark hair, I look nothing like a possible Latina. What makes you think that I’m just going to like your Facebook page? Especially since you’ve followed me twice via 2 blogs that both only have 1 post on liking your Facebook page. Uh, nothing against Latinas but seriously? You guys are making your ethnic group look bad.

But on the bright side, I have more followers.

I like large numbers.

Spam Here, Spam There, Spam Spam Everywhere

Ok, so first I get spam followers who don’t even read my blog and then I get spam comments, and now I get spam likes? What kind of blasphemy is this?

For those who don’t know, what I consider a spam like is when a blog post gets like by someone who’s Gravatar picture is a very generic, pretty talk-show hostess type face girl and who doesn’t have a blog on WordPress, meaning that I can’t follow them. So when I visit their Gravatar page, the only website available is some trashy spam site titled “This is the best!” and usually contains huge amounts of “How to Lose Weight in Minutes!” ads.

Ok, first off, thank you for just assuming that I’m fat. I haven’t even posted a freaking picture of myself on this blog. I’m not offended at all.

Second off, thank you for liking my post. I’m glad you’ve read it. Even though it has nothing to do with my inability to loose weight in minutes. Not that I need to do that either.

Third off, thank you for giving my blog extra views even though I have no idea how you’ve managed to get to my site without any referrers. I suppose that’s the magic of spam-bots. Am I right?

So actually, I have to thank you spam-bot for all the good things you’ve given me. Keep on visiting my blog. I’m encouraging you. Seriously.

(Oh jeez, I must be insane now, encouraging spam-bots to spam my blog…)

Creative Spam

I’ve gotten the same spam message over and over again for 7 times now. And it goes something like this:

Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword….wait there’s even more Now what if i told you there was a simple WordPress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That’s right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. Seo Plugin

First off, you’re suppose to have spaces after you punctuation. Lovely spam bot, I don’t believe that people type.Their.Sentences.Like.This. Not only that, notice the size of this paragraph. Notice how you don’t try to split your information into smaller more manageable chunks so that people will actually try to read it. Not only that, please, dear spam bot, watch which words you decided to capitalize the first letter on. Last time I checked, I believe it only happens at the beginning of a sentence, with the word “I” and proper nouns. Is “bold” a proper noun? Also, sir spam bot, you missed capitalizing an “I”.

Not to mention how not believable this whole thing is. If you want people to click on your link, at least sound human.

There is an art to spam. There are ways for people to set such large traps that you don’t even realized that you just got tricked into believing spam. Not that I’m promoting any of this. But seriously. If you were going to spam someone, why don’t you at least make an effort to make it seem believable?

And one good example of that is not making the same spam comment on the same blog multiple times.

Another good example is to not target blogs that have basically no audience.

Thank you and have a nice day.
